On June 26 at The Old Colony Sportsmen's Association, 6:30pm-8:15pm, join us for a free event - Shaking Up Suburbia: Encroachments of MBTA Zoning/Right to Shelter.
The regionalization of the suburbs is not new, but it is picking up speed. With the passage of the MBTA Zoning Communities Law affecting 177 eastern MA communities in 2021 and Gov. Healey's aggressive Right to Shelter policy, changing the character of the suburbs is on the agenda of the elites. What exactly is happening? What are towns facing? What should be done? Who can help? Drawing on the resources of those in the trenches of town governance and activist movements, this will be an evening of networking, informations sharing, and identifying those who seek to make a difference.
Representatives from South Shore communities such as Halifax, Hanson, Marshfield, Rockland, Duxbury, Pembroke, as well as Milton, will be attending, along with speakers Kim Emberg, third term Kingston Selectwoman, Halifax Planning Board member Amy Troup, long term Hanson Selectman Bruce Young(ret.), and other guests. Candidates for state office will be attending to listen and connect.
There will be a light refreshment and cash bar
